As national signing day approaches for high school football players, we found this story about a kid in Nevada who might have to change his college plans. For those unfamiliar with recruiting, this is an area of college sports, specifically football, that has exploded over the last five years. After reading this story, it's hard to believe it hasn't happened before.
Offensive lineman Kevin Hart held a press conference in his gym, which is commonplace now, to announce his intentions to go to Cal over Oregon next year. No one was more surprised than Cal head coach Jeff Tedford, who apparently had never even talked to the kid.
Law enforcement has taken over the case to find out if this was the result of an elaborate prank phone call scheme or if Hart has just made up the entire story. As tough as it has to be on Hart, we do think it's slightly funny that someone was able to pull this off. You'll see what we mean after you watch the video of his announcement and see how this thing blew up. We're guessing he had to pay for those hats on the table.
