Last night, the Philadelphia Phillies defeated the Tampa Bay Rays 4-3 to win the World Series in five games (4-1).  This is the second World Championship for the Phils…they previously won in 1980…28 years ago.  This will be remembered as one of the weirdest finishes in a Series with an unprecedented suspension of a game due to inclement weather.  The game was concluded 48 hours later…in hindsight…it was worth the wait!

NLDS against the Milwaukee Brewers, it got me thinking whether Philadelphia is a Football town or a Baseball town?  On Thursday evening on Fox, the Phillies will host the L.A. Dodgers in Game 1 of the NLCS.  I’m not a big fan of baseball, but I do like the Phillies (Mets, and Yankees as well).  I watch about a handful of games a year including the playoffs.  I was never really into baseball…I just don’t get the fascination?  I find it slow, dull, and extremely boring…unless you’re at the ballpark…then it’s a whole different story!  When you’re actually at the game, it’s exciting and much more “family friendly” than football.

Wow, wow, and wow. Those are the only three words I have to say after watching the MLB all star game the other night.

To me, that was the best All Star game I have ever seen. There was great pitching, great hitting, and some really good fielding. The game, which was featured in one of the greatest cities in the world, in one of the most historic ball parks, had everything to offer. With guys like Miguel Tejada playing short stop like Derek Jeter, J.D. Drew hitting like Mickey Mantle, and a guy named Nate Mclouth playing center like Willie Mays, this game was nothing short of spectacular. The only thing missing was the babe himself and maybe a slice of some apple pie.

As I sit here and watch Johan shutout the Yankees for first three innings I wonder what it would be like for him to be in the road grey's. Sure it would be nice to have some one of his caliber as a member of the Yankees but I think his performance is season thus far has proven Brian Cashman correct. If the Yankees had traded Melky Cabrera, Phil Hughes, and Ian Kennedy for Johan Santanna, Yankee fans would be asking for more. I know Hughes and Kennedy have no wins this year but Hughes is only 20 years old and has great potential. He needs time to devlop. I am not sure what Kennedy turns into and I would have definetly been fine with trading him in a deal just not packaged with Hughes. It just wasnt fair for the Yankees to give up prospects and a huge contract.

The Red Sox announced recently that they would be wearing an EMC Corp. logo on the sleeve of its jersey during the team's opening series with the A's in Japan. According to the Sports Business Daily, the deal will likely cost EMC a six-figure fee.
