here are the top five free agent pitchers:

(1) Ben Sheets, (2) Oliver Perez, (3) Jon Garland, (4) Andy Pettitte, and (5) Randy Wolf

Sheets is unquestionably the best pitcher of the group, but his injury history is immensely discouraging. Even though he's the top gun remaining, I wouldn't touch him if I were the Mets. He'll get hurt and either Jon Niese or Bobby Parnell will be in the rotation before we know it. Can't have one of them on top of Maine and Redding.

From Alex Rodriguez to Brett Gardner and Jose Molina on offense and from Andy Pettitte to David Robertson pitching. The pitching this weekend was superb, outside of one inning by Jose Veras. They were sharp, crisp and threw strikes. They basically didn't walk anyone which is always a good recipe for success.

Clemens and McNamee Alone on Capitol Hill

It was determined late yesterday that Andy Pettitte, Chuck Knoblauch, and Kirk Radomski would be dropped from Wednesday's much anticipated public hearing. Leaving Roger Clemens and his accuser, Brian McNamee as the only participants. Not sure if these two will ever be in the same room, but if they are could you imagine the tension and intensity if they in fact are? Clemens has already said he will talk to Congress tomorrow and will not plead the fifth, talk about great reality TV.
