Rumors have been swirling around of the New York Knicks making a trade. (What a surprise) With the hiring of head coach, Mike D'antoni the Knicks are now shopping disgruntled point guard, Stephon Marbury. Marbury was under D'Antoni a couple years back in Phoenix and the two didn't get along. New general manager, Donnie Walsh has made the departure of Marbuy and his $22 million contract, the first priority. D'Antoni may try to lure two of his players from the Sun's he so coveted in his "run-and-gun" style of play. Foward, Boris Diaw and Shooting guard, Leandro Barbosa have been unhappy with the front office of Phoenix and may want to follow their coach to the big apple. A proposed trade has been rumored sending Marbury back to Phoenix for Barbosa and Diaw.
Personally i don't know why the Suns' would ever take a look at this trade proposal. If i were Walsh, i'd be happy to trade Marbury to the local Subway and get rid of his contract.
Everywhere "Starbury" has gone, he has seemed to ruin the franchise for a good five years. He did it with the Nets; Suns; and now Knicks. If you take a deeper look into the "Starbury Effect" the moment Marbury fled via free agency or a trade, that specific team instantly improved, ALOT. The Nets went to the NBA finals two years in a row; the Suns have been a powerhouse in the Western Conference for the last five years; The Knicks outcome remains to be seen.
Now i highly doubt, D'Antoni will turn this mess of a franchise into a winner but hey, if Steve Kerr proves to be as dumb as he was last year, trading "the matrix" for or a guy whose nickname is "the big cactus", then maybe..... just maybe.... the Knicks get this deal done....
Hey, It's at least a start.
